The following is a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

On January 17, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office detectives were dispatched to a house on Parish Road in Moss Bluff in regard to a vehicle matching the one leaving the scene of multiple vehicle burglaries in the area.

CPSO detectives received permission from the homeowner to search the residence for stolen items.  In  a room occupied by Kevin L. Nguyen, 18, of Lake Charles, and Frank A. Richardson, 18, of Moss Bluff, detectives located a large duffel bag and two rifles in plain view which were some of the items reported stolen from victims' unlocked vehicles during the night.

Richardson and Nguyen confirmed to detectives they had been car hopping and stealing items from unlocked cars.  Both were arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 3 counts of simple burglary; 3 counts of theft over $1,500; and 3 counts of theft under $300.

All items were recovered and returned to owners.

Judge Wilford Carter set Richardson's bond at $10,500 and Nguyen's bond at $7,500.

CPSO Detective Kerrick Gabrial is the lead investigator in this case.

    Less humid Wednesday!Less humid Wednesday!

A cold front will move through Southwest Louisiana late Tuesday or early Wednesday.  This will bring noticeably drier air back to our area and that means we get a break from the humidity!  But it will also bring scattered showers and thunderstorms tonight.  The timing looks to be between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Wednesday.  The risk of severe weather is very low, but like last night, it is not zero!
