CHRISTUS St. Patrick Hospital will host free foot screenings from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18 and Thursday, January 20 at the Center for Advanced Wound Healing on the corner of Foster and Lilleon Streets.
David Dobbins, M.D., Tyson Green, D.P.M., and Steve Springer, M.D. will conduct the screenings and provide information about prevention and treatment options for foot complications. Individuals with diabetes should have yearly examinations by their physician.
Risk factors for foot complications include:
- Poor circulation
- Nerve damage
- Previous foot ulcers
- High blood sugar levels
- Skin changes
- Deformities
- Shoes that don't fit correctly
- Walking barefoot
