LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office arrested two family members of a 5-year-old boy after they received complaints concerning the welfare of the boy.
Authorities were called on Tuesday to the home in Lake Charles after receiving a call concerning the child's welfare. When deputies arrived at the home, they found the 5-year-old had a large abrasion on his face.
Authorities say an investigation revealed the boy had been kicked in the face and this led to the arrest of two family members.
William L. Knapp, 18, was arrested and charged with one count of cruelty to a juvenile. Elizabeth M. Knapp, 21, was also arrested and charged with two counts of cruelty to a juvenile. The second count for Elizabeth was because CPSO detectives had received prior complaints regarding the boy being improperly supervised.
Both were booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
A judge set William's bond at $25,000 and Elizabeth's bond at $14,000.
