SULPHUR, LA.(KPLC) -The West Feliciana jail escapee originally from this area-- David St. Germain-- is still at large. But Federal Marshals have talked to some in our area who know him-including his sister who lives in Sulphur. St. Germain is wanted in connection with three smash and grabs in Calcasieu Parish.  His sister implores him to turn himself in before something bad happens.

Forty five year old David St. Germain is well known to some in the Crocker Street area of Sulphur including his sister who still lives here. Federal marshals have come here and interviewed his sister, Darlene, who says she has no idea where he is.

Darlene St. Germain doesn't want to talk on camera but she's very concerned about her brother and what may happen and urges him to give himself up to authorities.

Another who knows David St. Germain is Margaret Melder who lives a couple streets over. "He has a son with my sister and we just know him from growing up together. When he's not stealing and doing stuff that he does, he is a real good man."

Melder says marshals also talked to her sister. She says he does sometimes come back to the area. "She's used to him going in and out of jail. He's only seen his son since he's been out. And he's only been out for maybe a year."

She does not think David St. Germain is dangerous. "He would not hurt nobody for nothing."

If he is spotted in the neighborhood she predicts he will be reported to law enforcement. "If he comes around they are going to turn him in because he needs to serve his time for what he's done."

Officials with Calcasieu Sheriff's Department say St. Germain is linked by DNA evidence to three smash and grabs in Calcasieu Parish. Anyone who sees St. Germain or knows where he is urged to call the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Department or 911.
