New Pinnacle project in Baton Rouge continues

BATON ROUGE, La. - Construction at the Pinnacle Entertainment, Inc. Baton Rouge casino resort continues, and today the Company announced the arrival and assembly of the two industrial tower cranes. The cranes will be used for construction on the wet side of the levee.

The new $357 million casino entertainment property, located in the heart of south Baton Rouge, will feature 1,500 slot machines, 51 table games, a poker room and a 12-story hotel with approximately 200 guest rooms and a rooftop pool.

The Baton Rouge casino resort is the fourth casino operated by Pinnacle Entertainment in Louisiana. Pinnacle's additional Louisiana properties include Boomtown Casino, Harvey, La., L'Auberge du Lac Casino Resort, Lake Charles, La., and Boomtown Hotel & Casino, Bossier City, La.

    Reports of tropical funnel clouds were sent in by viewers on the afternoon of Saturday, April 22 as thunderstorms moved across parts of Southwest Louisiana.  According to the 7Stormteam, these are a common occurrence in Louisiana with thunderstorms, especially in the summer months, and rarely ever touch down.     Authorities have released new details of the investigation into the homicide of Justin Grantham.

    The body of the 25-year-old Calcasieu Parish man was found on Friday around noon, after his alleged killer led deputies to where he left his body.
