Sulphur family's home destroyed by fire

SULPHUR, LA (KPLC-TV) – A Sulphur family is trying to recover after a fire destroyed their home on New Years night.

Houston River firefighters arrived to Robby and Amy Fontenot's home on Racca Road around 8:40 p.m. Saturday, but the structure had already burned to the ground.

No one was home when the fire broke out, but this is the second home the family has lost in the last two years.

The couple's previous home was also destroyed by a fire.

The Fontenots have three children: two girls and one boy. The family is currently looking for a wheelchair for their disabled son to replace the one destroyed in the fire.

"There's nothing, nothing left," said close family friend Lenora Mallett. "Everything is ashes. No pictures, no nothing. Everything's gone."

There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is not known and remains under investigation.
