Crash with telephone pole kills driver

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Around 6:15 Christmas morning, there was a one vehicle accident at the intersection of 6th Avenue and 4th Street in Lake Charles.

Lake Charles Police said it received the call for help from a passerby who stated there was a car that had crashed into a telephone pole.  When officers arrived on scene they discovered the driver, an African American male, dead inside the vehicle.

According to Zeb Johnson with the Calcasieu Coroner's Office, the victim had minor external injuries. Johnson said an autopsy is still needed to determine the exact cause of death.

Meanwhile, the crash remains under investigation by Sgt. T. Trunick and Detective G. Single with the LCPD.
