Kristian Claus comes to KPLC from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he worked for Apple. Kristian interned in the meteorology dept. at WESH-TV in Orlando, Florida from 2007 to 2008 and also served as a volunteer there beginning in 2006.
Claus (rhymes with house) earned a Bachelor's degree in Applied Meteorology from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach and completed course work in the Master's program at Point-Park University in Environmental Studies.
Kristian is an instrument rated licensed pilot, an NWS certified severe weather spotter, and a member of the American Meteorological Society. Kristian is well versed in forecasting, severe weather, and 2D & 3D weather graphics.
In addition to being a self-described weather geek, he is a fan of swimming. He served as a swim coach back in Pennsylvania.
