A Vinton woman is rescued from a burning trailer

VINTON, LA (KPLC) - Around 2:20 A.M. a trailer at 1420 Simmons Street in Vinton was reported on fire with two people trapped inside.

When firefighter arrived on the scene, they rescued a woman in her 60's from the burning trailer. Her son escaped on his own moments before.

Vinton Fire Chief Jerry Merchant says that the fire was declared out at 3:10 and the mother was transported to Cal Cam Hospital for respiratory injuries. She's currently listed in severe condition.

Her son was treated and discharged from Christus St. Patrick's Hospital with cuts and bruises.

Their names are not being released at this time and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
