LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC/CNN) -- It was an unexpected ending to CNN talk-show host Larry King's run Thursday night. The monumental event concluded with a live performance from Southwest Louisiana.
During a concert at the L'Auberge du lac Casino and Resort, singer Tony Bennett performed "The Best is Yet to Come," for the retiring host via satellite. After 25 years, King is stepping away from the microphone during prime-time.
Thursday's program on CNN included an A-list of stars who paid tribute to King, including Bennett. Bennett's concert at L'Auberge Thursday night was a private event. The public concert planned for Friday is sold out. Guests paid at least $85 per ticket for Friday's performance according to prices listed on the resort's website.
