1 pound lean ground beef
1/2 cup uncooked rice
2 tablespoons minced onion
1 teaspoon salt
pepper to taste
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce, or
1(10-ounce) can tomato soup
1 cup water
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Combine the ground beef, rice, onion, salt and pepper in a bowl and mix well. Shape the mixture into 1-inch balls while wearing plastic gloves. Arrange the meatballs in a single layer in a baking dish.
Step 2: Combine the tomato sauce, water and Worcestershire sauce in a bowl and mix well. Pour the mixture evenly over the meatballs.
Step 3: Cover the baking dish with foil. Use an oven mitt to place the baking dish in the oven. Bake the meatballs for 1 hour. Remove baking dish from the oven using an oven mitt.
This recipe was submitted to the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI) by one of the members of the Junior League of Lake Charles, Inc. when they asked for League members to send in unique and kid-friendly recipes. It was selected for the new cookbook, "In the Kitchen with Kids," which is available at www.ajli.org.
