LC City Council defers vote on Bord du Lac Park

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A major portion of lakefront development was the topic of some heated discussion at Wednesday's Lake Charles city council meeting.

At a prior council meeting, members voted to reject the Bord du Lac park project because it was over budget. On Wednesday night, a resolution was introduced for the redesign of the park at a cost of $8.9 million.

Before the council could vote on the project, it was suggested that a decision on the Bord du Lac park be delayed for thirty days until Mardi Gras Boardwalk and the Hard Rock Casino proposals are more clear. The thirty day delay was approved.

Some of the council members did not want to delay the vote, but they decided to hold off for fear of not having enough votes to pass the revised project proposal. If the resolution to approve the project failed, the entire project would have been scrapped.
