Two vehicle crash on LA 397 sends two to hospital

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Troopers with the Louisiana State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash that happened on LA 397 at LA 14 on Monday morning around 7:15 a.m.

Authorities say their preliminary investigation indicated the crash happened when a red 1998 GMC pickup truck driven by 54-year-old Beverly J. Dawson of Lake Charles failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign to a red 1995 Ford F-350 driven by 47-year-old Angela S. Leonard of Iowa.

Dawson was transported by air to a hospital in Lafayette with moderate injuries. Leonard was transported to a Lake Charles hospital with moderate injuries.

Dawson was cited for failure to yield at a stop sign. Leonard was cited with failure to wear a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation.
