LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - It has been said there is no pain worse than the pain of losing a child. Sunday evening The Compassionate Friends organization held a world wide candlelight service to honor the memory of loved ones taken too soon.

"The loss of a child is particularly tough this time of year. This gives folks something to do in memory of their child," said James Cook of Passionate Friends.

"It means I can keep my son's memory alive," said Cynthia Kratzer.

The goal of Compassionate Friends of Southwest Louisiana is to offer a support system of people with similar struggles to those that have lost someone special. Each month members gather to discuss and share. If you would like to join the non-profit organization or donate click here for a link to their website.
