Man in custody after Friday morning shooting

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The Lake Charles Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that happened on Friday morning on Opelousas Street.

Around 9 a.m. Friday morning, the LCPD was called to the 1600 block of Opelousas Street in response to a shooting.

When the officer arrived, he found 48-year-old Troy Sutton suffering a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Officers also located 21-year-old Thomas Blakeney at the scene. Authorities say he was taken into custody for the shooting.

Sutton remains at a local hospital receiving treatment as of Friday afternoon. His condition is currently unknown.
