MOSS BLUFF, LA (KPLC) - Lake area resident Carla Pratt will be auditioning for a spot on the "MasterChef" cooking show on Fox in New Orleans on Saturday, November 20th.
The "MasterChef" cooking competition is drawing thousands of amateur cooks from all over the country. However, the casting editors only contacted close to 100 of those contestants back.
Pratt applied to audition for the show in October and recently received a call back from the show's casting editors.
"I had forgotten about it and when they told me they liked my application and wanted me to audition I couldn't believe it," said Pratt. "I'm just a down home, country girl. Why would they pick me?"
Pratt has been cooking her crawfish fettuccini for family and friends for more than a decade now. This is the dish she will be placing before the "MasterChef" judges on Saturday.
"If I get called back to a second audition then I have a chance to get called back to a third audition," said Pratt. "If I get a chance to go to the third audition, then there's like a 90% chance that I'm going to be on the show."
In addition to appearing on MasterChef, Pratt will also receive $250,000 and the opportunity to publish her own cookbook.
"I've been trying to make a cookbook since my boys were young," said Pratt. "They've named my cookbook 'Carla's Creations.'"
Casting editors will notify the contestants of the results in the next couple of days.
