LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson has been named one of five finalists for the Bronco Nagurski trophy, given to the nation's best defensive player.
Through 10 games this season Peterson has recorded 28 tackles, three interceptions, three pass breakups, a quarterback hurry and a blocked field goal.
Peterson has also been one of the best return men in college football this season. Ranking second in the SEC in both kickoff and punt return average.
The other finalists for the Nagurski trophy are Clemson's Da'Quan Bowers, Auburn's Nick Fairley, Georgia's Justin Houston and Boston College's Luke Kuechly.
Former LSU Tiger Glenn Dorsey won the award in 2007.
