SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) - Officials say that the students at Maplewood Middle in Sulphur have returned to class after a brief evacuation when smoke was spotted coming from the roof of the school.
Reportedly, a contractor working on the roof of the school was using a piece of equipment that was turned off, but was still hot. It came in contact with some canvas on the roof, and started a small fire.
The fire department did respond to the scene, but the worker was able to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher.
