LSU to charge for game-day parking next football season

BATON ROUGE, LA (KPLC) -  Beginning next season, LSU football fans will have to pay to park in most campus lots on game days.

The university says the permits will cost anywhere from $20 to $40, depending on where you want to park.

An online map shows the color-coded parking lots. On campus, just past the quad, are the purple areas that will cost $40. A bit further away, are the designated green areas that will cost $20.

Access to these spots will be sold on a first-come, first-served and game-to-game basis.

The university says the revenue generated will allow LSU to make more restroom facilities available and help with rising clean up costs due to heavy tailgating in those areas.

The money will also help offset budget cuts that could range from $290 million dollars to $500 million dollars for Louisiana's universities and colleges.
