JENNINGS, LA. (KPLC) -Governor Bobby Jindal's wife Supriya came here to James Ward Elementary School in Jennings where her foundation for Louisiana's children & ATT presented innovative technology to the school: Interactive whiteboard systems to two first grade classrooms and one for second grade.

The system includes what they call a Promethean interactive whiteboard which seems to bring the learning process to life in part because children interact with it. Children took turns using hand held devices that allow them to vote for the correct answer.

Mrs. Jindal says such technology is providing extremely effective. "Interactive whiteboards are something we are beginning to see transform education across the country.  A study recently released shows a 17-29 percentile gain in academic achievement in classrooms with such systems versus classrooms without,"she said.

And the children seem excited to use it.

Jindal's foundation aims to help Louisiana children in all aspects of education with special emphasis on math and science.  For more information on the foundation and how schools might seek such new technology for their classrooms click here.
