MSU cracking down on speeders

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The city of Lake Charles has reduced the speed limit on Sale Road, and Common Street, around McNeese, to 25mph. McNeese police have been on campus with radar guns making sure drivers are following the new speed limit. McNeese Police Chief, Cinnamon Salvador said this is all an effort to keep students safe, while walking to class.

"We are out there radaring vehicles, making sure that motorists know they need to slow down during those peak hours," said Chief Salvador.

The reduced speed limit hours are Monday-Friday, from 7am-4pm. For a short time, to allow motorists to become familiar with the new speed limit, anyone who is pulled over will receive a verbal warning.
