The following is a news release from The City of Lake Charles:
On November 3, an ordinance was passed by the City Council lowering the speed limit on Common St., between Sale Rd. and McNeese St., from 35 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour during the hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on school days.
Another ordinance was passed by the City Council which lowered the speed limit on Sale Rd, between Ryan St. and Common St., from 35 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour during the hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on school days.
Vehicular traffic should exercise particular caution when traveling these streets during school hours when pedestrian traffic is at its peak.
New speed limit signs have been installed in effected areas alerting vehicular traffic to the new, lower speed limits.
