Man at bus station busted with pot worth $16,000

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A Mississippi man was arrested on Sunday at the Greyhound Bus Station in Lake Charles after 35 pounds of marijuana were found in his suitcase.

U.S. Border Patrol agents were conducting a check at the bus station when a canine alerted them to a suitcase. After searching the suitcase, it was found to contain 35 pounds of marijuana with an approximate street value of $16,000.

The owner of the suitcase, 43-year-old Donald Thomas of Greenville, Mississippi was arrested by Combined Anti Drug Task Force detectives.

Thomas was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

He is being held on a $10,000 bond.
