LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - On Tuesday afternoon, troopers with the Louisiana State Police responded to the Lake Charles location of the Office of Motor Vehicles after receiving a report of an individual attempting to obtain a state-issued ID card using documents that appeared not to belong to him.

When troopers arrived, they met with 20-year-old Jeffry Gomez of Toco-Colon, Honduras.

Troopers say they verified the Puerto Rican birth certificate and social security card Gomez presented were not his. Gomez then reportedly admitted to entering the United States illegally through Arizona.

Gomez was arrested by State Police for giving false information regarding presence in United States to obtain government identification, unlawful possession of fraudulent documents for identification purposes and filing and maintaining false public records.

Gomez was transported to the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center and was booked.
