DRY CREEK, LA (KPLC-TV) – Hundreds of people showed up to pay their respects to area veterans at the 11th Annual Veterans Day Celebration at the East Beauregard High School football stadium on Sunday.

Dozens of area veterans received a warm welcome from the crowd.

John Bridges and Elizabeth Temple from KPLC-TV served as masters of ceremonies for the event, which not only honored living veterans but those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Gold Star Father Drew Edwards thanked the community of SWLA and SE Texas for the support they showed his family after his son, PFC Chase Austin Edwards, a U.S. Marine and 2005 graduate of Barbe High School in Lake Charles, died after an IED struck his Humvee in Iraq in April 2006.

The ceremony also included a flyover and skydivers from the U.S. Air Force.

In addition, the Dry Creek Baptist Children's Choir and the country band Branded Dou performed.
