OBERLIN, LA (KPLC) - There's a new leader in Southwest Louisiana. Oberlin's Cedric Skinner came into tonight's game against Merryville, 87 yards shy of breaking the SWLA record for most rushing yards in the regular season.
The previous record was set by Leesville's Michael Ford, current LSU Tiger running back, back in 2008. He totaled 2,431 in the regular season.
Skinner had 2,345, so he needed 86 yards to tie the record and 87 to pass it. According to sources from Oberlin, he finished the game with 235 yards, which if accurate, puts his total to 2,580.
And if numbers are correct, he also managed to score 37 rushing touchdowns in the regular season.
Congratulations again to Oberlin's Cedric Skinner. The new SWLA record holder for most rushing yards in a season.
