Pinnacle Entertainment files lawsuit against LC Port

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - What was once the future site of around 1,500 new jobs is now the site of a legal battle between Pinnacle Entertainment and the Port of Lake Charles.

A special Port Authority meeting was held on Thursday afternoon to allow board members to discuss the legal issues surrounding the Port.

Pinnacle Entertainment wants to purchase 50 acres once set aside for Sugarcane Bay. The Port of Lake Charles said Pinnacle is in default of the land lease agreement, and the purchase is off the table. The Port wants to put a different casino next door to L'Auberge du Lac.

"It's a decision that the court will have to make, and I am confident that the court is going to make a decision that's favorable to the port," said Michael Dees with the Port of Lake Charles.

7 News contacted Pinnacle Entertainment for their response. They said it is their policy not to comment on pending litigation.
