LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The fire that destroyed the administration building of Boys Village off of Highway 90 in Lake Charles was finally extinguished on Thursday morning.
Flames and smoke were seen from the highway, and the heat was described as very intense.
Firefighters say a passerby saw the fire and alerted authorities. Firefighters tell 7 News they got the call at 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning. Several agencies responded to the scene.
Boys Village houses about 20 youth. According to the facility's executive director, they were all accounted for and there have been no injuries.
They are asking for the community's support. We're told they need donations of office supplies and equipment.
There's been no word yet on how the fire started.
