CHRISTUS St. Patrick Hospital Named Consumers' Choice in Quality and Image

Posted: Updated:

For the second year in a row, CHRISTUS St. Patrick Hospital has been named the region's Most Preferred Hospital for overall quality and image by the National Research Corporation (NRC), in its Healthcare Market Guide Ticker® study.  In addition CHRISTUS St. Patrick was recognized as having the best doctors and the best nurses

"This award is a great honor, because it comes from the people we serve and acknowledges our high quality physicians and associates. Our patients and families have chosen us for this award for the second consecutive year because they have confidence in the way we care for them," said Bernard Leger, CHRISTUS St. Patrick Hospital Administrator. "Our physicians and associates have earned the trust of the community, and we pledge to continue our journey to excellence and the healing ministry of Jesus Christ."

The Ticker® study is widely known as the nation's most comprehensive consumer assessment of the health care industry. NRC polled more than 250,000 consumers to determine which hospitals would join the ranks of the 2010/2011 Consumer Choice Award winners.

Ginny Martin, President of NRC's Ticker Division, said winners are determined by consumer perceptions on multiple quality and image ratings collected in the company's Healthcare Market Guide Ticker℠ study. Of the 3,200 hospitals named by consumers in the study, the winning facilities rank highest in their Core Based Statistical Areas (CBSAs), as defined by the US Census Bureau. The Ticker study surveyed over 250,000 households representing over 450,000 consumers in the contiguous 48 states and the District of Columbia.

"Healthcare has become an increasingly important issue across the country and empowered consumers are making decisions for themselves and their families when selecting their healthcare facilities and services," Martin said. "As care options multiply and financial challenges remain strong, consumer perception of quality continues to grow in importance.  Dedication to providing high quality healthcare has become essential for all hospitals.  In the face of adversity, these Consumer Choice award winners exemplify the dedication it takes to provide quality healthcare to their communities, and we are pleased to honor them through the eyes of their patients."

Dr. David Engleking, Vice President of Medical Affairs for St. Patrick Hospital adds, "Our medical and clinical staff set the bar at the highest standard in terms of technology advances, innovation, experience and compassionate service. Year after year, the American Heart Association recognizes CHRISTUS St. Patrick's sustained clinical excellence in the treatment of heart patients.  In the past year we also received the Gold Level 2009 Louisiana Hospital Quality Award, and Blue Cross Blue Shield named us a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Excellence."

The list of the 2010/2011 Consumer Choice Award winners was published in the October 18, 2010, edition of Modern Healthcare.
