LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -The Acadiana High School football team will forfeit four wins this season, including two against Sulphur and LaGrange, because of an ineligible player.

Acadiana's victory over Barbe will still stand because the ineligible player did not participate in the Rams 35-14 win.

According to The Daily Advertiser, the player transferred into Acadiana this spring from Texas.  On his transcript the player's birthday was listed at September 28th, when his real birthday was May 28th.

Students cannot participate in athletics if he/she turns 19 before September 1st of an academic year.

The forfeits will drop Acadiana's record to 3-5 and their district record to 1-2.  Sulphur's record will now stand at 5-3, with a 2-0 district record, and LaGrange will now be 5-3 overall, with a 2-1 district record.

Sulphur will now control their own fate for the district title with games remaining against Lafayette and Barbe.  The Bucs and Gators are still alive for the title as well.
