Two killed in accident at railroad crossing near Crowley

ACADIA PARISH, LA (KPLC) - The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office says they are investigating a collision between a train and an automobile that happened around 4:00 a.m. on Friday morning.

The accident happened at Highway 90 and Sidney Richard Road just west of Crowley.

Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon says investigators arrived at the scene and they were advised the train was traveling around 64 miles per hour and had just dropped off several cars in Midland and was en route back to the yard in Lafayette when the automobile crossed the railroad track and failed to yield.

The train reportedly traveled around 2,300 feet from the railroad crossing before coming to a stop.

Crowley Fire & Rescue were called to the scene where the couple had to be extricated from the vehicle. The two were pronounced dead at the scene.

The victims have been identified as 29-year-old Joshua Kade Feverjean and 37-year-old Natalie S. Feverjean, both of Crowley.
