Body found in Acadia Parish

ACADIA PARISH, LA (KPLC) - The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office says that fully clothes skeletal remains were found by an AT&T worker on Friday morning around 9:45 a.m. on Highway 100 near mile post 12.

Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon says the investigation is in the preliminary stages, but the remains are believed to be those of a male subject. Foul play is not suspected in the death of the individual.

A preliminary identification has been made, but because of the condition of the body, Dr. Mary Manheim with LSU was contacted to assist with the investigation. The victim's body will be transported to the LSU FACES Lab in Baton Rouge.
