McNeese freshman succumbs to her injuries

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The family of McNeese freshman Ashlea Richard says that she has died from the injuries she received when she was hit by a car while crossing McNeese Street on Monday morning.

The following statement was released by family members of Ashlea on Wednesday morning: "Ashlea has passed and has gone on to give the gift of life to others. The family requests that you honor their privacy at this time."

The 19-year-old McNeese freshman from Welsh was hit by a motorist while crossing McNeese Street around 7:30 on Monday morning.

McNeese State University President Dr. Philip Williams issued the following statement: "We are saddened by the tragic loss of one of our students, Ashlea Richard. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends."

    The search for the suspect in last Friday's homicide in Topsy has been found. Authorities in Beaumont, Texas spotted a vehicle suspected to be driven by the suspect, David Wade Clark. After being spotted, Clark lead Jefferson Country Sheriff's deputies on a pursuit through a neighborhood.
