LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The following is a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:
On Thursday, September 30, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a burglary in progress at a house on 16th Street in Lake Charles. When deputies arrived, they observed a broken window on the house and spoke to witnesses that said they saw two boys carrying televisions and laptops into a nearby house.
When deputies went to the nearby house they observed the back door was opened and found a woman and two boys inside the house. A witness positively identified the boys, Marcus C. Williams, Jr., 17, of Lake Charles, and a 15 year old boy, as the ones seen earlier carrying the televisions and laptops. Deputies received permission to search the house from the owner and located two televisions; two laptops; an iPod; and a cellular phone inside the attic.
When questioned by CPSO detectives, Williams confirmed to breaking into the house and removing items. Williams was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with burglary; theft over $500; criminal damage to property; and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. The juvenile was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with burglary; theft over $500; and criminal damage to property.
Judge Wilford Carter set Williams' bond at $5,000.
