WESTLAKE, LA (KPLC) - Michael Dickerson was elected police chief of Westlake on Saturday, defeating the incumbent Police Chief Jeremy Cryer, 57% to 43%.

Dickerson thanked his supporters on Saturday evening and said he was looking forward to serving as police chief.

"I'm just really overwhelmed and excited that Westlake chose me to lead the department into the future," said Dickerson. "I just want to thank everyone out there for getting out and voting, supporting me, supporting other candidates. I'm just happy."
