Port throws support behind former Pinnacle CEO

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC-TV) – Officials with the Port of Lake Charles are now on the record with who they would like to see get the state's 15th riverboat license and ultimately develop a $400 million casino resort.

The port has entered into a real estate lease option with Creative Casinos, a company headed by former Pinnacle Chairman and CEO Dan Lee.

Creative Casinos proposes building a 400-room hotel casino known as Mojito Point.

As far as a casino resort goes, the 18-month lease option is more ceremonial than anything else because the final say in who gets a gaming license is up to the state gaming control board.

One group who's future is uncertain is Tomorrow's Investors, a group headed by Chester Jones. The group failed to submit a $50,000 fee with its application to the state gaming control board last week.

Jones said his group was still in the process of clearing up the mistake.
