FAA continues investigation of McNeese charter plane incident

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Federal investigators are now looking into whether the pilot of an Allegiant Air jet carrying the McNeese football team to Columbia, Missouri may have been distracted during takeoff.

You may remember that the jet was carrying the team to Columbia for the September 11 game against Missouri when they had to make an emergency landing in Tunica, Mississippi.

No one was injured during the landing.

After an investigation, it was determined one of the plane's wheels hit a runway light upon takeoff at the Lake Charles Regional Airport.

The FAA wouldn't comment further saying the incident is still under investigation.
