BATON ROUGE, LA (KPLC)- We could know by close of business Thursday who will be given the final riverboat casino license. Thursday is the deadline for applications for Louisiana's 15th and final riverboat casino license allowed by law.
The Louisiana Gaming Control Board put the license up for applicants after it was returned to the state in April by Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. Pinnacle had planned to use the license for its second casino-resort complex in Lake Charles - but canceled the plan. Earlier, the board said at least three groups had expressed interest in the license.
The Port of Lake Charles said last week that it would like to attract a casino to a 230-acre, port-owned piece of land to replace the canceled Sugarcane Bay project. But the port says it wants the developer to commit to a minimum $350 million project.
