LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - On Wednesday a press conference was held to announce the creation of the Lake Charles Corsairs, an American Basketball Association team, that will play at the Civic Center in Lake Charles.
The team's owner, Mike Mullen, said the team will begin play in the 2011 season, which is expected to begin in December of next year.
The Corsairs will play games against other regional ABA teams from places such as Lafayette, Baton Rouge and Beaumont.
No players or coaches have been decided for the team yet, but Mullen did mention former ABA legend Darryl Dawkins as one of his candidates for the head coaching position.
