State Police taking part in "National Take Back" initiative

By Michael Addison - email

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Louisiana State Police is participating statewide in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency's National Take Back Initiative.

It's a coordinated effort with state and local enforcement agencies to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from households across the country. This initiative provides the public with the opportunity to surrender pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to their local law enforcement officers for disposal and destruction.

In our area, Troop D will be working with DEA agents this Saturday at a designated drop location to accept these substances to properly dispose of them.

The drop site will be located at 805 Main Street in Lake Charles from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
