Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to the accident around 2:20 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators say, the driver, 63-year-old Tommy Jones Jr., and his occupant, 62-year-old Martha L. Hubbarh, were traveling south on Oscar Kilpatrick Road just north of US 80 in a 2004 Chevrolet Caviler when  Jones traveled into the path of a train traveling east. The vehicle, which was impacted on its passenger side, became partially wedged with the front of the train, and was pushed approximately 500 feet.

Jones and Hubbard, who were both properly restrained at the time of the crash, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Bienville Parish Coroner.

This crash was caused when Jones failed to yield to the train. Routine toxicology test results are pending and the crash remains under investigation.
