LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The McNeese Cowboy football team knew they were going to be in for a test against the Missouri Tigers, and the Big 12 member handed the Pokes a tough defeat on Saturday night.
Missouri running back Henry Josey gave McNeese fits all night, scoring Mizzou's first three touchdowns from six yards out the first two times, then rattling off a 62 yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
McNeese's offense struggled throughout the night. Quarterback Jacob Bower completed 11 of 19 passes for 99 yards, but threw 3 interceptions and was sacked for a safety.
The Pokes did find the end zone against Missouri in the fourth quarter. Back-up quarterback Cody Straud found receiver Wes Briscoe on a fade in the back corner of the end zone.
In the end, the Pokes never got things rolling and fell by a final of 50-6 to Missouri.
The Cowboys have next Saturday off and will return to action at home on Saturday, September 25 against Cal Poly.
