Sulphur man arrested for breaking into cars

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) – A Sulphur man was arrested for breaking into vehicles in the Moss Lake subdivision area in Carlyss. Investigators charged 19-year old Kevin K. Duplechin with four counts of burglary of a vehicle and fours counts of theft.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office tells 7 News on Saturday, September 4th, deputies received a call regarding the burglary of vehicles. One of the victims told the deputy he woke up when he heard the horn blowing on his truck. He stated he went outside and saw someone had entered his truck then observed a truck with a loud exhaust driving away.

CPSO deputies searched the area and located the truck that matched the description of the truck seen driving away. They continued to search the area and located Kevin K. Duplechin hiding under a truck owned by one of the car burglary victims.

The investigation revealed between midnight and 2:30 a.m. Duplechin burglarized at least five unlocked vehicles and took an unknown amount of cash; a GPS; and various other items. All of the items have been recovered. Investigators say Duplechin confirmed he committed the burglaries.

Ryan Trahan, of Blue Dog restaurant in Lafayette, received the title after winning the Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off.   The competition happened Tuesday, June 19 In Lafayette. It included 12 chefs from across Louisiana, including Lake Charles' Justin East.
