LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso confirmed that Lee Roy Williams, the "person of interest" in the quadruple murder that happened this past Labor Day weekend, has been taken into custody in Baton Rouge after a short standoff.
The incident reportedly took place near the LSU campus. Williams was reportedly found in the blue Ford Explorer with the Mississippi license plate that authorities were looking for.
Authorities in Baton Rouge reportedly shot out the tires of the vehicle and a short standoff occurred.
A forensics unit from Calcasieu Parish is reportedly heading to the scene where he was captured, as well as other authorities from Calcasieu Parish.
Williams will be brought back to Lake Charles Thursday evening.
New details in the case were also released by Sheriff Mancuso. He said that Williams reportedly purchased a two night stay at an Iowa hotel and was spotted in Iowa as recently as Sunday afternoon.
