Major developments in quadruple murder; news conference at 4pm

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office will be holding a press conference at 4:00 pm this afternoon to announce major developments in the quadruple murder case.

Police say a standoff with an armed suspect temporarily closed down the Dalrymple Drive exit ramp on Interstate 10 in Baton Rouge on Thursday afternoon.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff's spokesperson Casey Hicks says a suspect was taken into custody following a short standoff on East Lakeshore Drive near May Street.

Authorities from the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, Baton Rouge Police Department, Louisiana State Police and LSU Police were on the scene at the incident.

A message was sent to students at LSU on Thursday afternoon that warned them law enforcement was on the scene at Dalrymple Drive near May Street in Baton Rouge and East Lakeshore with an armed suspect.

According to authorities all roadways are currently being reopened as the suspect is now in custody.

We are not certain if the events in Baton Rouge are connected to the person of interest wanted in connection to the quadruple murders that happened on Monday, but a news conference was just scheduled in the last 45 minutes for 4:00 pm where Calcasieu Sheriff's Department officials say they will report "major developments" in the case.
