DERIDDER, LA (KPLC) – The Bearegard Parish Sheriff's Office is reporting the skeletal remains found in Beauregard Parish this past April are that of Mr. Lawerence Jefferson Jr., of DeRidder.

A worker clearing land just south of DeRidder stumbled across a human skull. Forensic anthropologist, Mary Manhein from the LSU FACES Laboratory, in Baton Rouge was called to offer assistance in the examination of the skeletal remains.

On Wednesday, LSU stated that based on the environment in which the remains were found, the time of year(spring), and the condition of the remains, it was estimated that Mr. Jefferson died sometime between three to ten years ago.

The manner of death could not be determined. Identification was made through DNA.
