LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - After the Lake Charles Fire Department rejected the city's last and final offer, Mayor Randy Roach and the firefighter's union discussed, and worked out an agreement. They were able to adjust some items in that last proposal. Tuesday night they presented the changes to the Lake Charles City Council for a vote.

After a brief executive session meeting the Lake Charles City Council voted unanimously to accept the revised Firefighter's contract proposal.

"We indicated that when they said no, I specifically asked the question, if the response is no, is there a response, is there a way to work through some of the items in the contract? Were there some issues there that could be modified? We are both satisfied that these adjustments are relatively minor. They don't include any significant cost to the city," said Lake Charles Mayor, Randy Roach.
