Saints hold first practice with regular season roster

METAIRIE, La. (AP) - Malcolm Jenkins says he would be surprised if Brett Favre didn't try to pick on him when the Saints host the Vikings in the NFL season opener Thursday night.

Jenkins says he's the new guy in the Saints' secondary and will have to hold his own when he replaces All-Pro safety Darren Sharper.

The Saints held their first practice with their 2010 regular-season roster Sunday with Sharper still rehabilitating from offseason knee surgery.

Jenkins is one of three new Saints starters on defense, along with end Alex Brown and a linebacker yet to be identified.

Linebacker Jonathan Vilma's status also is unclear as he recovers from a pulled groin.

Vilma won't discuss his condition, but says the Saints' defense still looks good to him.
