LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - Former state Rep. Elcie Guillory will replace businessman Mark Abraham as a commissioner at the Port of Lake Charles.
The American Press reports that Abraham's resignation on Wednesday came amid complaints that there was no minority representation on the board as required by state law.
Abraham had eight months left in his term but said in a prepared statement that he was stepping down so that a minority representative could be immediately appointed. That cleared the way for the appointment of Guillory, who is black.
