Here's a look at events happening around the lake area for this Monday August 23rd.

Mcneese State University starts welcoming students for the fall semester with its annual "howdy rowdy week." today's event is centered around students getting connected to Mcneese. The Academic Affairs Department & the Office of Student Services will host information tables in the student union annex, that's the new ranch. From 10 to 1. Tomorrow. The student government association will host its annual student organizations fair.. Featuring some of, if not all, of the 120 recognized student organizations at mcneese.

From the Mayor of Sulphur's Office. The water service will be interrupted this morning for residents living on East Kent and West Kent drives. The interruption starts at 7 a-m.. The city says it's required so that repairs can be made to a water main. Water service will be restored as soon as the work is completed.

And in honor of a state trooper killed in the line of duty.. Today at 9 a-m.. A memorial marker will be unveiled on US Highway 171. The section stretching from Sam Houston Jones Parkway to You Winn Road will be designated as "Senior Trooper Duane Dalton Memorial Highway." Trooper Dalton was killed in a car crash in moss bluff this past january. His death marked the 25th for state police killed in the line of duty and the second for Troop D. The dedication will be held on Highway 171 in front of Fred's discount store.. It's about 1 mile north of the Highway 378 intersection.
